About us…

Gigasnow is designed to give all of you somewhat of an insiders perspective on anything ski and snowboard related.  In this blog, we are going to have various types of posts, focusing on industry news, deal awareness, general “how to’s” and anything else skiing and snowboarding related that strikes our (or your) fancy.

We work for Liftopia.com, a company that sells discount lift tickets, lessons, rentals, and etc.  Its model is based on the best (and removing the worst) practices from online travel, and helping to link skiers and riders who want to be on the hill more often with the ski resorts that want them there.  Think of it as an online outlet store for lift tickets.  We provide a safe place for resorts to offer special prices on tickets (because customers commit to specific days in advance), and customers link up with the best deals to try new areas, try old areas more, and in general ski or ride more…

Feel free to leave us comments, give us ideas for stories, or ask us questions about anything.  We will try to keep you up to speed on anything going on, and hopefully we can be a value to you in one way or another.

The folks at Liftopia

  1. Greetings!
The following is a release on the Freeride World Tour, a ski and snowboarding competition coming this February to Squaw Valley USA.
This coming year marks the first that the Tour will take place at Squaw Valley. Other parts of Freeride happen in Russia, France, and Switzerland.
This legendary terrain at Squaw Valley come February will be packed with some of the best skiers and snowboarders in the world, all chosen from previous qualifying competitions (see release for details).
I would love for your feedback and inquiries, and possibly some coverage of the event on your side.
I’d be happy to send images, more information, and anything else you might be interested in.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Skiers and Boarders Compete to Tackle Legendary Terrain at the

Freeride World Tour: Nissan Tram Face at Squaw Valley USA, February 28th, 2009

Squaw Valley USA Will Open Its Legendary Tram Face, Closed Since 1949, Especially for the Event

Squaw Valley, Calif (November 11, 2008) — Forty of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders will descent on Squaw Valley USA this winter, where for the first time ever they’ll compete on a legendary section of the mountain during the Freeride World Tour Event: Nissan Tram Face, anticipated to take place February 28th, 2009.

The Freeride World Tour event at Squaw Valley USA, the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, will help set a new standard for freeride competition, attracting some of the best in the sport. The Tour promises to be demanding for participants and exciting for spectators when for the first time the legendary Tram Face, closed since Squaw Valley opened in 1949, will be open for the pro event.

”The Tram Face at Squaw Valley is legendary terrain that many have dreamed to ride but few have dared to,” said longtime Squaw Valley USA skier Cody Townsend, ranked 5th in the 2008 World Freeride Tour. ”Having the first ever competition on Tram Face is like the first time Monaco was raced in Formula 1, Teahupoo was surfed and the Masters was played at Augusta. Opening up the off-limits terrain for the competition is a dream come true for anyone that’s driven into Squaw Valley and seen the amazing Face that dominates the mountain.”

Participants arrive at Squaw on February 26, opening ceremonies take place on Friday, February 27 and competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to an alternate date between February 29 and March 5. Spectators can enjoy the festive atmosphere with live music and ongoing events at The Village at Squaw Valley plus another village at Squaw Valley’s High Camp.

Riders participating in the Squaw event, which is the second leg of the Freeride World Tour, will arrive in California after showing their stuff in Sochi, Russia. After Squaw, the riders will travel to Tignes, France and Verbier, Switzerland. After this final event, the four Freeride World Champions (ski/snowboard/men/women) will be crowned.

    Liftopia,

Were a group of boarders/surfers/skaters in Venice Beach, CA and we started a free to join, members-only, Action Sports website that sells awesome gear for ridiculously cheap prices called EpicAccess.com.

After beating up brands for the last 6 months, we’ll be selling everything from snowboards to shoes to wakeboards to jackets for up to 80% off retail.

I am reaching out to a number of key Snowboard, Ski, Skate and Wake blogs and am interested in getting your blog involved spreading the good word about our site. We want to partner with you in a way that offers benefits to the blog as well as blog readers personally.
